Parents are advised strongly to make sure that all of their children's clothing is clearly
labelled with their child's name.
Uniform helps us to create a sense of community and establishes a working environment. All students at Commonweal are expected to wear the following uniform at all times.
Boys * Years 7, 8 & 9 – plain blue shirt, school tie, black trousers, black shoes, blue v-necked school jumper with school crest.
* Years 10 & 11 – plain white shirt, school tie, black trousers, black shoes, black v-necked jumper with school crest. In the summer term boys will have the option of wearing a blue polo shirt with the school crest (Years 7, 8 & 9) or a white polo shirt with the school crest (Years 10 & 11) rather than the shirt & tie.
Girls * All years – white blouse, black trousers/skirt, school tie, and low heeled shoes (no more than two inches high).
* Years 7, 8 & 9 – blue v-necked school jumper with school crest .
* Years 10 &11 – black v-necked jumper with school crest. In the summer term girls will have the option of wearing a white polo shirt with the school crest rather than a blouse & tie.
All shirt/blouse buttons to be buttoned to the neck. Collars must be designed to take the school tie. The tie must have a proper knot which must be by the top button of the shirt/blouse. The tie must be a reasonable length (i.e. waist length). Shirts/blouses must be tucked in fully. Shirts/blouses that do not tuck in are not deemed to be suitable for school. Plain polo shirts are only to be worn in PE lessons.
Trousers are to be plain black and smart. Jeans, cropped trousers, trousers with splits are not permitted.
Skirts are to be knee-length and of a sensible design with no splits, embroidery etc.
Only school jumpers with the school crest to be worn.Coloured tops/sweatshirts/polo necked jumpers are not to be worn to school.
Shoes should be worn at all times during the school day, except outside during the lunch break.
Jewellery is restricted to one watch, one pair of earrings (studs/sleepers), and one ring. Nose studs or other body piercings are not allowed.
Coats are to be plain and sensible so as to take into consideration the vagaries of the British climate. They are not to be worn in class.
Fashion items are not considered to be school uniform and must not be worn to school. Any item not mentioned above is not considered to be school uniform and will not be worn to school. Make-up is actively discouraged but if worn must be discrete. Inappropriate uniform will be dealt with as a disciplinary matter and may include students being sent home .
