School Uniform Policy
Principles
It is our policy that all children should
wear clothing that is in keeping with a purposeful learning ethos. We
also believe it is important that certain activities are facilitated by
specialised and appropriate clothing when attending school, or when
participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours. We
provide a complete list of the items needed for children’s school uniform in
this policy.
Aims
Our policy for children’s school uniform is based on the belief that a school
uniform:
-
promotes a sense of pride in the school
-
engenders a feeling of community and belonging
-
is practical and smart
-
identifies the children with the school
-
makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
-
is regarded as suitable, and good value for money, by most parents
-
has been designed with health and safety in mind.

All long hair (boys and girls) must be either
covered by a cap or tied back for health and safety reasons. If your child
needs to use goggles please sign the permission slip.
Make up and Cosmetics
Make
up and cosmetics are not considered appropriate or consistent with our school
uniform. The school does not permit such products to be worn by any children,
unless there is a specific event for which the Head has given permission.
Lost property
In
order to return lost property, all uniform and personal items must be clearly
marked with the child's name.
Early Years Requirements
It
is important for the promotion of social independence that the younger children
are able to manage their own clothes and shoes.
This should be considered when purchasing school uniform.
School
uniform with the school logo embroidered on it is available via our website.
Please
ensure that all uniform is clearly labelled for ease of identification.
Children
must not wear jewellery in school.
Children with pierced ears are allowed to wear 1 pair of studs, but
these should be covered or removed for P.E. and removed for swimming.
Wristwatches are acceptable but need to be
marked clearly with the child's name.
